Content creation
Turn one idea into three drafts
You will have three short drafts built from one idea and one source, each marked for review before anything is posted.
Before you start
- One idea or source that you own, such as a tip you give customers often
- A notes app, a document or a piece of paper
- An AI assistant is optional and may need an account or paid plan. Everything here can be written by hand
Pick one idea with one point
Good content makes a single point. Choose something you already explain to customers or clients, so you know it is true and useful. Write the point as one sentence.
If you cannot say it in one sentence, the idea is probably two ideas. Pick one for now.
Gather what you can stand behind
Write three to five true facts or steps that support your point. These come from your own experience, your own notes or your own published material. Do not borrow numbers or quotes from someone else.
Draft three formats from the same material
- Reel outline: an opening line, three beats of one sentence each, and a closing line.
- Caption: two to four short sentences and one clear next step for the reader.
- Carousel: a cover slide with the point, three to five slides with one fact each, and a last slide with the next step.
The facts stay the same across formats. Only the length and rhythm change.
Using only the facts below, draft (1) a 30-second video outline with an opening line, three beats and a closing line, (2) a caption of up to 50 words, and (3) a carousel of five slides with a short title and one line each. Do not add facts that are not listed. Keep the tone warm and plain. Point: [one sentence] Facts: - [fact 1] - [fact 2] - [fact 3]
Worked example
Tom is a plumber. This is a made-up example. His idea: “Know where your stop tap is before you need it.”
- Fact: most homes have a stop tap under the kitchen sink or near the front door.
- Fact: turning it clockwise shuts off the water.
- Fact: test it once a year so it does not seize.
Reel opening: “Quick, where is your stop tap?” Caption: “Find your stop tap today, and test it once a year. If a pipe bursts, you will thank yourself.” Carousel cover: “Find your stop tap in 60 seconds.”
Mark each draft for review
Label every draft “Draft, not reviewed” until you have read it against your facts. The next guide covers what to check. Nothing here posts or schedules anything for you; publishing is a manual step you do yourself.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Trying to make several points in a single post
- Using facts you cannot back up from your own experience
- Copying the same text into every format, instead of adjusting length and rhythm
- Letting an assistant add claims that are not in your facts
- Posting without a review pass
Final checklist
- I wrote my idea as one sentence
- I listed three to five facts I can stand behind
- I drafted a reel outline, a caption and a carousel
- Each draft uses only my listed facts
- Each draft is marked for review before posting
