Everyday productivity
A simple messaging assistant for yourself
You will have a personal assistant with a short rules note, three safe jobs and a weekly check.
Before you start
- An assistant service that offers messaging access
- Time to read its privacy terms
- A personal number or account only you control
Step 1: Read the terms
- What messages does the service store, and for how long?
- Who can read them?
- How do you delete everything?
If the answers are unclear, wait.
Step 2: Write the rules
Prompt you can copy
You are my personal assistant. You may: draft short messages for my review, summarise text I send, and set reminders. You may not: send anything to other people, make purchases, share my details or access other accounts. If unsure, ask me. Keep answers under 80 words.
Step 3: Start with three safe jobs
- Reminders for tomorrow.
- A summary of an article you forward.
- A draft reply you review and send yourself.
Step 4: Check weekly
- Read the last week of messages.
- Delete anything private.
- Remove access you no longer use.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Giving it permission to message other people
- Skipping the privacy terms
- Sharing sensitive details
- Using a shared number
Final checklist
- I read the terms
- I wrote the rules
- It can only draft for me
- I check weekly
