Cinematic ad concepts with AI, from idea to storyboard
You will have a concept, a six-shot storyboard, a look guide and a plan for checking the final result.
Before you start
- An offer or portfolio piece
- A budget for tools, even a small one
- A brief from the ad guide
Step 1: Start from a brief
Write the offer, the viewer and the one action. A cinematic look cannot fix an unclear message.
Step 2: Write the concept
Offer: [offer]. Viewer: [viewer]. Write a 20-second cinematic ad concept in one paragraph. Then a six-shot storyboard with: shot description, camera move, light, and any on-screen text. Use only my facts. Do not invent testimonials.
Step 3: Define the look
- Colour palette of three colours.
- Light: for example warm and low.
- Camera: slow push-in, handheld or locked.
- Pace: the length of each shot.
Step 4: Generate shot by shot
Make each shot separately and keep the look guide in every prompt. Check each for odd details before moving to the next.
Step 5: Check the whole
- Does the offer and price appear correctly?
- Do you have rights to every element?
- Does it follow the ad platform’s rules?
- Is it labelled as AI-made where required?
Common mistakes to avoid
- Starting in the tool without a storyboard
- Letting style replace message
- Using someone else’s look or music
- Skipping the rights check
Final checklist
- I wrote a brief and storyboard
- Every shot has the same look guide
- I checked rights and rules
