Selling AI help to local businesses
You will have a one-page offer, a client shortlist, a simple agreement checklist and a plan for your first project.
Before you start
- A skill you can explain, such as drafting, summarising or scheduling
- Time for one small paid project
- Willingness to say no to risky work
Step 1: Pick one narrow service
Do one thing well. Examples are turning meeting notes into action lists, or writing a month of posts from a business owner’s notes. Avoid anything involving legal, medical or financial advice.
Step 2: Write the offer
Help me write a one-page offer for [service]. Include who it is for, the problem, what I deliver, how long it takes, what I need from the client, what is not included and the price. Use only these facts: [facts]. Do not invent results or testimonials.
Be exact about what is included. Vague offers cause disputes.
Step 3: Find three people to ask
Start with people who already know your work. Send each a short, honest message. Do not send bulk messages.
Step 4: Agree it in writing
- What you will deliver and by when.
- What the client provides.
- How you handle their private data.
- Price, payment and what happens if plans change.
- Who owns the finished work.
For anything beyond a small project, have a qualified professional review your agreement.
Step 5: Deliver carefully
- Check every output before the client sees it.
- Tell the client when AI is used.
- Never put client data into a tool whose terms you have not read.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Promising results you cannot control
- Skipping a written agreement
- Using client data in tools you have not checked
- Taking on risky work
Final checklist
- I have a one-page offer
- I asked three people
- My agreement covers data and ownership
- I check everything before delivery
